Nigerian Afrobeats singer Kizz Daniel has revealed the personal reason behind his recent break from music, saying his absence was connected to the death of his mother earlier this year.
The singer, whose real name is Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, made the revelation on X while responding to a fan who assumed that he had stepped away from music because he was working on a new album.

A fan suggested that an album had kept the singer busy and caused him to pause his music activities.
Kizz Daniel corrected the assumption, explaining that his break was because of his mother’s death rather than an album project.
He said he had lost his mother earlier this year and needed to step away before eventually returning to his career.
The singer also indicated that he has chosen to keep moving forward for the sake of the rest of his family.
Why Fans Thought an Album Was Coming
Kizz Daniel had previously announced a planned break from releasing music in 2024.
At the time, he told fans that after his Uncle K EP, he would not release new music until 2026. That earlier announcement led some fans to associate his reduced activity with a planned musical sabbatical.
His latest explanation, however, makes clear that his more recent absence was tied to a personal family loss.
